The Story Behind Wasatch Coatings

Wasatch Coatings started the way a lot of good things do around here, with a Saturday project that got out of hand.

I coated my own garage floor not long ago. Ground the slab, laid the base, threw the flake, sealed it up. Then the neighbors started asking who did the work, and a couple of them asked if I'd do theirs, and somewhere between the second and third floor Wasatch Coatings stopped being a project and became a company.

A little about me. I served in the United States Air Force, and I've been married to my best friend for 18 years. We have four kids between the ages of 2 and 10, which means our own garage floor gets tested daily by bikes, scooters, sidewalk chalk, and whatever got dragged home that week. Family is the reason I do this. It's also the reason I run the business the way I do, because every garage we coat belongs to somebody's family too.

I've spent my whole adult life building and fixing things. Exterior painting, framing, concrete pouring and repair, plumbing, electrical, landscaping, project management, even software development. Concrete coatings pulled all of that experience into one trade I genuinely enjoy. The prep matters, the chemistry matters, and at the end of the day there's a floor that looks like glass where a dusty slab used to be.

Here's my honest opinion about home services along the Wasatch Front: the work is usually fine, the experience is usually terrible. Calls go unreturned. Quotes take a week. Crews show up late or not at all. So our standards are almost embarrassingly simple. We answer the phone. We tell you the price up front, it's $8 per square foot and it's published right on this website. We show up on time in a clean shirt, and if we're ever running ten minutes behind you'll get a call before you have to wonder.
